 We have an opportunity available for a General Assistant to join our team on a part-time, term time only basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £18,787 pro rata for TTO (£8,208 for 20 hours per week over 36 weeks, inc. holiday uplift).

The General Assistant Role

As our General Assistant, you will work within the cafeteria team in order to meet the services for our Students, staff and guests to the college.

Responsibilities as our General Assistant will include:

– Cashier duties including Security of moneys, ordering of float change as required, balancing of cash as required

– Basic preparation/cooking and service of hot and cold food & drinks

– Receiving, checking and storage of stock deliveries

– Stocking of all displays including stock rotation and monitoring

– Preparation and transportation of hospitality as required

– Maintaining vending machines as required, and reporting of any damage

– Clearing and cleaning of cafeteria tables

– Record and monitor fridge / freezer temperatures

– Record and monitor hot food temperatures on the counter

– Record relevant information on wastage

– Keep service and seating area hygienic and free from litter

– Adhere to food hygiene regulations & Health & Safety

– Answering telephone, and recording information

– Assisting with stock taking

– Record and report any incidents of damage or theft

– Participate in staff training

– Develop concepts and ideas through communication and feedback

– Keep all work areas clean and hygienic

– Service of hot and cold food on the counters as required

As our General Assistant, you will need:

– Some food industry experience

– Customer service experience

– The ability to work on own initiative

– A good communicator

– The ability to multi-task

– Flexibility in relation to duties

– An enthusiastic and self-motivated team player

– Flexibility to work between sites if required
